Deadamorphosis by mibi Deadamorphosis by mibi

sorry for the large file size (1544k). DA will not alow custom jpg previews with jpg files so i had to convert to png in order to avoid DA's own horribly distorted preview. a smaller filesize and higher quality jpg can be found here for dialup users (its 350k) [link] :)

This was a peice that was submitted to ArtPolitic for their upcomming release on Body Modification, but it wasn't good enough. ho hum.

I hope its obvious but what im trying to say in this is that you can change your appearance... you may even look like a bird... but that doesnt mean you can fly. ;)

all stock is from me, the girl is my good friend Jenny.

Hmmm...I like it. If you look at it from afar and scroll up and down, you can just see the life oozing out of it. All of it. Like pus. Coming from a spot. Eww. :woot:

wow, you were lucky for the doves, how did you actually shot them ? you must have an incredibly fast camera ;)

Maybe it's the size, the hugeness but I really like this piece.

I have a similar piece in my gallery, though I dare say it's even bigger =P
Sonic-Soul Featured By Owner Feb 17, 2004
great.. i just think that you cuold manage the women body.. like.. in a fall the hair should be messed up, and legs too... anyway it´s a good pic!
craftyunicorn Featured By Owner Feb 17, 2004
This is astounding. My heart actually fluttered when I got to the end. I would really like to say something constructive or incredibly cool right now, but I think I'm suffering from the stendhal syndrome. Very, very nice.

this is hardcore, who needs the approval of some art group anyway? For some reason it it has a micro$oft look to it(thats supposed to be a compliment, they put alotta money and effort into their PR campaigns) crossed with a project mayhem aganda.... bottom line: this should be on a bill board!!!
vonchilliman Featured By Owner Dec 18, 2003
This is so cool, the dimensions of the pic on my monitor, with a lot of scrolling make this like a story where you sit anticipating the ending, turning the pages as quickly as you can!

Love it

Very well done.

birdy go splat xD I love the simbolism!
ramdom Featured By Owner Dec 5, 2003
~ technically her body would be shaped by the fall [almost the same as the shape of the dove - like figure 5?] and even a "peaceful" fall wouldn't look like it does here nor imply flailing: this looks wooden, like she's walking and rotated 90 degrees CCW. her arms should be behind her to morph w/ the dove better. a flawed but inspired [somehow] piece.

my model refused to actually jump off a building.... but thanks for the comment

amazing job.

yeeaaaaa!!! mibi.
this is cool man, obviously, like everything that you do. the best part is how well the body becomes the bird. impressive photoshop skills. secondly, i like that you made this building. it seems like it is probably a 4 or 5 story building that you have chopped and reworked it to make it 24 stories tall. none of the stories really repeat. some sort of look the same, but there are subtle differences. only displaying how handy you are with photo programs and what a perfectionist you are. i want you to know that we here at deviantart appreciate it very much. all you hard work and paintaking efforts make you one of the greatest contributers of this site.

Awesome! *splat...* she looks too stiff tho, not enough movement. Otherwise, very creative... good job!

haha... nothing but a dark smear on the pavement... amuses my soul!

LadyRed Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2003
Oh my goodness I love the change :) I agree though, it might've been more interesting if she was flailing her arms, maybe have her lay on her stomach and do a swan dive position to get the affect. Besides that it shows how patient you are and how skilled you are :)

Love the creativity.

hahaha amazing! it's dark, but yet it makes melaugh. good job on the photo manipulation!

HAHA! that looked like a boring fly down, you should've kept the arms flailed. eh - unless that's what you were goin for - it's all good!

thanks for the laugh :D

I love your description,....this is a brilliant image !!!!!!
dbfreek Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2003
Wow, you seem to be quite the popular one.
Well, about your dedamorphosis....

The concept of the the picture is almost uphauling. For a split seccond I thought you captured a moment from 9-11 and used it as art... I personally think that as controversial as it would have been, it would have made for a superb piece.

Still, you manage to capture the crudeness of the fact, that people can't fly.
I applaud that.

I also applaude your level of patience....
Being a graphic artist my-self, I know the amount of time that you must have dedicated to this piece, and that alone makes the "huge size" worth while.

You have a great imagination, which gives you the power to envision these great concepts, the only thing you lack is the right tools...
In other words, I hope you intend to pursue photography/digital art as a career, b/c if so, you have a bright future ahead of you.

Keep it up!'s always great to see some one strive to become the best.
mibi Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2003
aye... thanksfor the lovely comment... i owe you one, or perhaps three or four.... and i plan to use my creative juices down to the last drop in my future... thanks again!
frpaladin Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2003
thats pretty crazy, but the poses which are unchanged stick out. still a good job with the blending of limbs and such, definitely a piece without lack of hesitation or patience.

still wondering how you got a stock of a building that huge in that good of resolution o_O
mibi Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2003
the original building was only 4 stories... then rest is all photoshop ;)
frpaladin Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2003
oh, right on. guess i should have looked closer, now that you mention it i can see some repeating windows.

still an angled building though, and the background blends well; so damn good work

I love the way the photos of her are all standing ones and you rotated them... so simple yet extremely successful as this complete peice. Bravo!
onecrazymofo Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2003
I love it! But she really does look like she is stiff and falling at a really slow speed, her hair must have a lot of gel on it and the air around it just, "hmm nothings happening, lalalalla!" other wise it is brilliant - is she dead at the bottom? If she is I think that is also brilliant - when I was loading it started from the top so I scrolled down with it and it was really suspenceful! great job!

I like the initial idea you started off with here and how it's caried out, but I feel as if some of the poses as she falls don't seem natural. Naturally when an object pluments to earth it goes to it's most streamlined shape due to drag and friction etc. But, this is definantly not to bad an attempt to recreate what it would be like:)
mibi Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2003
she falls like a sky diver does... belly first ;)
